Yearbook-ing

Who knew making a yearbook would be such a hard job?

I certainly did not think so... but then again, I didn't think I would have the world group to lead. One's with no inspiration, creativity, etc. because they didn't get to choose where they wanted to be. If they had ended up with their friends, I am completely sure that they would be full of life and ideas to improve their section; but, since they are in mine without choice, all they want to do is get the job done and get out as soon as possible.

For those who are confused, our school has a yearbook class. Yes, a class that you go to everyday and actually have a mark for. People can only take this class in their last two years at school. Juniors can only take the course in the first semester, but seniors have the choice of taking the course all year round or just in the first semester.

For each of the individual sections, there are section editors for each of the five sections [ i'm one of those ] and we also have two co-editors and two co-editors of photography. If you can't keep track that equals 9 editors plus a teacher who rules all.

Anyways, my group is clubs and organizations, which I believe is the heart and soul of our school. Without them, our school would have no individuality, nothing for people to relate to. Unfortunately, the people in my group wanted to be in other groups and I understand that notion, but also understand that if you are given a task, you should do your best to complete it.

Because some of them are so unhappy to not be working with their friends for one day a week, two of the three others in my group are going as far as trying to convince me to cut out pages from my section. One of the girls said our teacher recommended it, but when I talked to her about it she said there was no way she would have said that because it was already a small group to begin with and she actually wished our section should have more pages than it did.

I feel so confused, lost, hurt, etc. right now because if I was just buying a yearbook and not involved in the process of making it at all I would want the people who made the pages to be interested in what they were doing and make them look good. But, since I am actually involved in the process, I feel as if it is a representation of me and the other students and no matter what - we should always try to put the best product out there. Don't you agree?
